12-hour run of the Lion club

Mayser employees show endurance and team spirit

Even outside working hours, Mayser promotes its employees with special events. They managed one impressive team performance during the first 12-hour run of the Lions club in Lindenberg.

Things started at 8:00 o'clock in the morning. With two teams and a total of 14 employees, Mayser competed round after round to collect money for charitable purpose. A chip in the relay baton kept track of the rounds. After two hours already, it was clear: This day would be exhausting. But the overwhelming team spirit and the good mood at the first 12-hour run in Lindenberg got runners to go far beyond their limits and run longer then they would have thought possible.

Both Mayser teams competed 258 rounds in all, their runners ran impressive distances ranging from 17 and 32 kilometres. “This shows how much stamina our employees have. Keeping up for twelve hours requires not only a lot of self-discipline and stamina, it is also an impressive sports performance,” Winfried Wanka, Member of Management at HR & Law, enthused. He was especially impressed by all runners completing the last round together with their last strength. “An outstanding team performance that deserves a lot of respect,” Winfried Wanka explained.

All 216 runners of the 28 competing teams together generated 20,000 euros net proceeds on this day. That sum is made up of sponsorship moneys, round donations and entry fees. It will be divided into equal parts among Lebenshilfe and the Kinderschutzbund [Child Protection Association].

Mayser employees will again compete – as they did last year – during the Einstein marathon in Ulm on the 17th of September. In 2016, 38 runners from Ulm and Lindenberg participated. Entering for this year is still possible until July 28.
