Trainee excursion: Lindenberg visits Ulm

Fast, faster, Mayser trainees

Last year, the trainees in Ulm visited their colleagues in Lindenberg; the return visit took place recently. The trainees at both locations have been looking forward to the visit for a long time – especially the excursion to the “Ecodrom” indoor go-cart track in Neu-Ulm. Thrilling races gave Mayser’s young talent a chance to demonstrate speed and control.

Such a go-cart race is strenuous – as the Mayser trainees know from their last excursion to the Ecodrom two years ago. After welcoming their colleagues from Lindenberg to Ulm, everyone enjoyed a breakfast with coffee and buttered pretzels. Sufficiently strengthened and in the best spirit of competition, they then set off for the Ecodrom indoor go-cart track in neighbouring Neu-Ulm.

After registration and instruction of the drivers, it was time for the fun to begin. First, in four groups, they had to complete six minutes of qualifying laps to decide the starting positions for the final race. Due to their go-cart experience, the Mayser trainees achieved top times here. After completing the qualification, there was a well-deserved lunch break with a hearty pizza buffet for all of the trainees and instructors.

Racing teams let it “rip”

The final race was quite exciting: Based on their times, the groups started one after the other and pushed their carts to the limit. Occasional collisions in the heat of the action cost time, but also spurred the teams on to perform even better. It was a neck and neck race, but in the end the guests from Lindenberg won a narrow victory. The best time of the day was achieved amidst loud cheers by Tim Ammann, at 48.713 seconds.

After the obligatory group photo on the race track, the participants returned to Ulm. Ralf Michael, director of training, gave the trainees from Lindenberg a guided tour of the administrative building, the warehouse and production, where the fully automatic robots drew a great deal of interest. After a long day full of excitement, everyone who attended the trainee excursion went away with many new impressions.

Team events forge bonds

The regular trainee excursions and employee events at Mayser are not only fun, but also help to build team spirit. Traditionally, teamwork and a good working atmosphere are high priorities at Mayser, because we think that satisfied, motivated employees are the driving force behind a successful enterprise.
