“Stadtradeln” 2018

Cycling event for the environment in Lindenberg – once again, Mayser was there!

For the 5th time Lindenberg took part in the nationwide “Stadtradeln” urban cycling event from 25 June to 15 July 2018 to promote more bike traffic, environmental protection and a better quality of life. The participants included 31 Mayser employees, who pedalled a total of 4,067 km in three weeks – which corresponds to a CO² reduction of 675.6 kg. With this result, the Mayser team achieved an impressive seventh place among the sporting members of 22 participating companies and organisations. Marcin Labuda and Ralf Piechatzek had even more reason to be happy: In the daily giveaway they each won a multi-purpose tool and a jersey from Vaude.

Bike over couch

The event started off with the popular after-work bike ride on 27 June. In the following 21 days, a total of 566 participants traded their spot at home on the couch for the bike saddle, pedalling a total of more than 97,000 kilometres – the second best result ever achieved by Lindenberg in the event. But it was not all work and no play: After cycling, the participants – who were led by the local bike shop Radsport Greiner – stopped off for refreshments at the Lake Waldsee kiosk beer garden. Prizes were awarded on 27 June in the Lindenberg town hall, where Mayor Eric Ballerstedt, a cycling enthusiast, presented awards to the winning teams and individuals.

Health and sustainability

At Mayser, as a leading supplier for the automotive industry and public transport, mobility is an issue of long-standing importance. But not only in motorised traffic, because sustainability and individual health are also very important to the company. Bicycling is integral to sustainable mobility and demonstrates responsibility to the environment while promoting an active lifestyle and – in such events as “Stadtradeln” – team spirit. That is why Mayser promotes the commitment of its employees to sports and social activities.
