Automatica 2016 in Munich

Ulm, 9th May 2016 – From 21st to 24th June, Mayser will present itself for the first time as an HRC system supplier at the Automatica in Munich. In Hall B05, on Stand 513, the company will show-case safety concepts specially geared to robotics. The systems feature pressure-sensitive and capacitive 3D components, ultrasonic safety devices, area sensors and soft covers. In these solutions, Mayser applies to robotics the vast expertise it has gained from the automotive and industrial fields. The systems are designed to ensure top protection of humans working with robots.

3D collision protection for more safety

One system component from Mayser that guarantees safety during collaboration is the company's 3D collision protection. It features pressure-sensitive and capacitive arm and joint safety devices that protect workers from or during contact with the robot. To achieve this, the moving elements are encased in PU foam. Its sensitive skin re-acts to slight pressure or approach of the employee. To develop its 3D collision protection systems, Mayser draws on its many years of experience in medical technology – e.g. with mobile computer tomography units. The pressure-sensitive safety systems are practice-proven, offering high safety and robustness.

The 3D collision protection can be individually adapted to the robot's geometry. It is resistant to outside materials such as diluted acids, cleaning agents and lubricants. Mayser also supplies a soft cover without tactile sensors which gives the robot a soft appearance. This is designed to reassure employees working with the robot.

Tailor-made safety concepts

Apart from the 3D collision protection, Mayser HRC safety solutions include area sensors and non-contact systems such as safe environment recognition with ultrasound (USi® Safety). These systems are suitable not only for new development of HRC-capable robots, they can also be retrofitted into non-HRC-capable robots.

With its HRC systems, Mayser is targeting robot manufacturers, system integrators and users who want to make automated workplaces safe for humans.
